Crissman Elementary students and staff have another
reason to be excited about the start of the school year.
Greeting them at the door this year will be a
series of colorful drawings and positive chalk messages, courtesy of more than
40 students and parents.
“We want to make it pretty for back to school,”
said sixth-grader Grace Stimpson.
The effort was coordinated by the school’s
PTA, which also spent the morning dressing up the flower beds at the entrance
to the school.
Taking time out on a hot, sunny Sunday
afternoon, the students and parents wrote messages like “Welcome Cougars (the
school mascot),” “Welcome Back” and “We Love Crissman.” They also drew
rainbows, sky murals, the school and a couple Cougars.
Taking a break the yellow smiley face she was
working on, Stimpson said she has been looking to being back at school on
Tuesday. Her favorite subject is science.
“I like it a lot – I just find it interesting,”
she said.
